Mahaveer Jayanti and the Financial Year End

March 31 is usually about urgency. Final payments. Last minute collections. Tax entries. Closing calls. Across India, finance and business teams are in full closing mode… pushing transactions through, reconciling numbers, and sometimes even waiting for that one last payment notification before midnight.

And yet, the philosophy we associate with this auspicious day points us in a very different direction. One of Bhagwan Mahaveer’s most enduring idea was never about stepping away from the world. It was about discipline within action… restraint, clarity, truth, and responsibility for consequences.

For me, that feels especially relevant to today’s markets.

At moments like these, when headlines can unsettle portfolios, when uncertainty can make patience feel difficult, and when short term reactions begin to overpower long term judgment, real strength often lies elsewhere.

“Volatility tests temperament before it tests capital.”

The institutions and investors who endure are rarely the ones responding to every headline. They are the ones anchored in clarity, process, perspective, and the confidence to let time do its work.

In that sense, the message of the day feels remarkably current.

"Move with conviction, but never in haste.

Build with ambition, but without excess."

As we close one financial year and step into financial year = 2026-27, this may be the more useful reminder… wealth is not created by activity alone, but by patience, discipline, and the ability to stay aligned to purpose when the world feels more and more uncertain.

A thoughtful idea to carry with us into the new year 🙏

Wishing everyone peace, clarity, and a strong, grounded start to the new financial year.

Happy Mahaveer Jayanti.
